Research Interests

Dr. Bookert’s research focuses on the security and privacy of emerging technologies, particularly within the Internet of Things (IoT). Her work aims to safeguard consumers by identifying and mitigating privacy and security risks.

Her past projects include:

• Investigating privacy threats in Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) devices

• Applying machine learning to analyze privacy policies for security and privacy vulnerabilities

Professional Experience

Dr. Bookert has interned and worked with several government departments and agencies, contributing to national efforts in cybersecurity and privacy protection.

Community Engagement

Dr. Bookert is deeply committed to outreach and community service. She supports several initiatives and organizations dedicated to introducing K–12 students to computer science and cybersecurity. Her efforts help build early interest and foundational knowledge among underrepresented youth in STEM fields.
